Pre-arrival
What a sensational flight! The emirates staff combined with finally having the experience of flying aboard an airbus A380 was incredible.
6 months and half the circumference of this planet is what separated Francisco and I; upon arrival there he was, reunited once more.
Day 1
A day of solo exploration around Hong Kong. Francisco had some important things to do and to get out of his way I spent the day exploring the city.
I began in Mong Kok, the commercial centre of Kowloon; taking in the bustle of the street vendors.
Following a quick lunch, I made my way across to eastern Kowloon to pay a visit to the rainbow estate. Walking around I lost myself in the streets and alleyways where so many people live. The sight of so many block skyscrapers in such a small area was truly impressive.
On my way back to the university, I lost myself amongst the concrete jungle of Kowloon emerging in the beautiful Nan Lian Gardens. Definitely a little gem in my day.
The end of the day was a fantastic show of the student life in Hong Kong. Francisco and his friends showed me what the Hong Kong night life is like. Mr Wong's was definitely the highlight! What an incredible establishment.
Day 2
Due to the late night circumstances of the previous evening, the second day was largely lost to sleep and the afternoon was enjoyed from the university campus, overlooking Kowloon in the distance. In the evening, Francisco and I headed to the airport to catch a flight to Tokyo.
Day 3
Another short day, consisting of the few hours I had left between returning from Tokyo and my midnight flight to return to the UK.
Our plan: to go up Lion Rock to view the city from above and enjoy a final dinner together. We reached the top in half an hour and enjoyed a clear sky view of the city. Phenomenal.
