trip summary

A long-time family dream, our visit of India was long overdue. Prior to embarking on this trip, I had high expectations and was extremely excited for the photographic opportunities I would encounter.

After 10 days visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur in a bit of a mad rush, I was left astounded and wanting more. What a beautiful country; a cultural melting pot which has been incredibly imprinted in the cities and landscapes.

With this collection I aimed to showcase this mix of architectural history and influence alongside the life of people in the cities.

I need to go back for more!

The first stop on our short tour of India, Delhi was a vibrant and moving cities. We explored both the Old and New parts of the city, both each with their own distinctive charm.

Indian motorways

A collection of portraits taken on the move.
The idea was to capture many of the different people and sights on the motorway between Agra and Jaipur.

Jaipur

Jaipur is yet another bustling city filled with history; from the various palaces to the Jantar Mantar astrological centre. The ride up to the red fort was bumpy in the Mahindra 4x4, but in my opinion still better than the alternative of using elephants. They are beautiful animals but it was sad to see them used in this manner.
Located more in the city, I fell in love with the different shapes of the various constructions in the Jantar Mantar for looking at the stars and learning about the importance of astrology within Indian culture.

udaipur

The city of lakes in the province of Rajasthan brings a sense of peace compared to other cities we visited.
Experiencing the sunset whilst on the Pichola lake is a must and for those with the means, perhaps even staying at the Taj Lake Palace hotel located right in the middle.
